JASNM, Inc. has been assisting the NM Asian Family Center (NMAFC) with its Project called "Strategies to Research and Implement the Vision of Health Equity" (STRIVE) to examine the health, exercise and diet for Asian youth in Albuquerque. The mission of the NMAFC is to provide culturally sensitive programs and services creating a Pan-Asian community that advocates for and supports itself. The STRIVE Project is funded by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. Asian youth are reported to have the lowest level of physical activity, so the STRIVE Project is focusing on policy and environment changes to improve the health of Asian youth. The Project focus is in the International District of Albuquerque, which suffers a relatively high poverty level.
